One roll of conventional toilet paper  requires 37 gallons of water and a gallon of chemicals to produce. These chemicals, including bleach, formaldehyde, and other carcinogens, enter the body through micro-cuts, causing hemorrhoids, yeast infections, and UTIs. The fluffier and whiter the tree-paper, the more bleach and formaldehyde it contains. Recycled toilet paper is better, but it's far from perfect. It also contains BPA, a known endocrine disruptor that finds its way into the recycling stream through receipts. As the world uses less office paper, BPA content in recycled toilet paper will continue to climb.
