Ditch Single-Use Waste… A How-To Guide For Going Refillable

Ditch Single-Use Waste

The Re-Up Refill Shop was featured in a recent article about how plastic-free shopping is going mainstream! For all those new to refilling, here is a quick how-to guide. So get to your local filling station or refillery and ready those reuseable containers…

  • STEP 1
Explore your local refill shop’s bulk products, or those at your local grocery store’s bulk section. You can find your local store here on Litterless.

  • STEP 2
Bring your own containers! Pack up your bottles, tupperware, mason jars, reusable silicone bags, or really anything that you want to use to refill. Your refill store might also offer containers for a small fee as well (ours are $2.00 per new bottle).

  • STEP 3
When you get to your local refill shop, tare your containers. Taring is when you weigh your containers before filling them, so you only get charged for the weight of the bulk items you put into them. Feel free to come in with an empty, partially full, or almost full container... taring does that math for you!

  • STEP 4
Fill, pay by weight, and repeat! And… don’t forget to bring your friends, family, and enemies… the planet needs us : )

Check to make sure you know your refill stores hours, as some can keep odd ones.
